Big Lou has been spreading his Island Hip Hop sound since 2021. If rap music went to the Caribbean and found happiness it would be Big Lou. Originally from St. Maarten (the Caribbean), and now based in Toronto, ON, he combines Caribbean (Sean Paul), African (Fireboy DML), and Latino (Bad Bunny) elements and pulls from other musical influences such as Logic, Dax, and Connor Price.
The single, “Time Witchu” (July 2023), written and co-produced by Big Lou & Justin Maki, is a groovy, flirty, pop song. “We just wanted to write a song to capture the feeling of wanting to spend time with that special person,” recalls Big Lou. “It was born when we hopped on a Zoom when Justin began playing with his guitar and we discovered the music and a hook soon after.
